Mile 1034.2 to Mile 1053.2 - 19 miles
Up to Sonora Pass we had hardly had any trail magic in the isolated Sierras. But it has returned with vengeance. After finding an empty chilly bin just before Ebbetts Pass I figured my luck was out. However, on reaching the road I got the friendly call from Brian, his friend Candy & family to share in some trail magic. Out of the boot came chairs then milk, bananas, cakes & coke - yes please!!
That's Brian sitting on the boot with the seated thru hikers being One Gear & Sugar Rush. It made my day :-).
An early start on another sunny day saw us go 100 yards before coming across the perfect epitaph for a broken walking stuck
The scenery has started to change with open spaces and gnarly rocky volcanic tors
We also met a few dog owners who had pooches along for the hike including this lady with her paw boots and saddle bags for food & herp own coat
The big climb for the day was a 1000 footer up to this saddle or Reception Point as the phone coverage saw people busy clearing messages etc.
We met a number of day hikers going in to the Noble Canyon area.
Our campsite was busy with a big crew around the fire
Starting from Smiles in tbe orange coat, clockwise we have Dream Catcher, Lid, Sweet Pea, Beardho, Gazelle, Proton, Tiptoe, Mountain Man & XC.
The daily mileage has stalled a bit as we are avoiding going into Tahoe on the 4th July as it will be pricey & a bit of a zoo.....Weta
