Deep Creek Hot Springs to Mile 335.6 - 27.6 miles.
Phew. That was a long hot day. Went a bit further than I wanted due to a paucity of camp sites. The day started easy enough including a hop over this rainbow bridge
Unfortunately the rock walls of the canyon were periodically graffiti marked......grrr.
The track then emerged with a view out to the flat southern top of the Mojave. After a lunch break the sun really took hold with the heat reflecting off the sand based track to make it stifling. I sweat badly at the best of times & I was a river by this stage & getting sweat rashes under my arms & other places!! We walked past a power station spillway to show we were back in civilisation
Before taking this shot I had to retreat quickly as I was almost run down by a seriously angry swarm of bees.
We climbed up to the source of this spillway which was Lake Silverwood. A bit like the Marlborough Sounds but a lake instead
The last 2 1\2 hours were the best of the day in the late evening when walking was far easier...maybe a thought for the desert stretches ahead Weta
You are definitely going through some temperature extremes with the weather Roger. Looks like you are having a great adventure
