Day 84 - Down Down Down

Mile 1261 to Belden - 23.3 miles. Distance from Mexico 1284.3 miles

The day started at Nancy's Place with a magnificent breakfast of pancakes, bacon, egg bake & fresh fruit. This host & her family are wonderful. They keep a couple of pet birds of prey - a hawk & this kestrel chowing on its breakfast
Nancy then drove us back to the trailhead. Here she is opening the door to allow smelly hikers in
We were on trail a little more than an hour before we hit Bucks Summit Pass where Coppertone had set up to provide hikers was floats - ice cream in creaming side or root beer...mmmm.
That set me up nicely for the 1500 foot climb that followed. But the big mover of the day was at the end when we twisted through 42 switchbacks to drop 4000 feet to Belden - mostly in the last 5 miles
It's a while since we have been at 2200 feet. But Belden is in a valley so guess what we are doing tomorrow..... Still, I pitied the poor hikers going up the climb.
Belden is really just a resort next to the north fork of the Feather River. The hotel is really everything...the photo showing Afro Man, Great White Turtle, Mowgli & Booboo on the deck
It was very hot today & likely to be so tomorrow so we'll be on the road early to start 14 miles of climbing....Weta
